Russian Embassy partners SABC in hosting stakeholders to view first official match
Russian Embassy partnered with iKwekwezi fm and SABC Gauteng province in inviting stakeholders to watch the first official opening match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Industry role players, businesses, embassies, government representatives and SABC executives witnessed the enthusiastic opening ceremony at the Russian Embassy on Thursday, 14 June.
Stakeholders were welcomed by the Russian Ambassador to SA,Mikhail Petrakov the event where a projector screen was used to feed live from SABC 1 which was covering the event live from Luzhniki Stadium, Moscow. A giant fire bird made from crepe paper created energy and enough vibe that created a historic encore by Russia blowing out Saudi Arabia, 5-0, in one of the most cockeyed World Cup starters ever.
iKwekwezi FM as the station that is at the forefront of this relationship in Hatfield working closely with the Embassy they were active with getting content for Current Affairs and Sports. Acting Station Manager Juliet Skosana said that the station thrives at relationships built on the ground with a vast variety of stakeholders. “This is also an opportunity for networking with likeminded people in the industry to better leverage on opportunities available in the market”, she said. She further indicated that this partnership allowed for the station's loyal listeners to learn more about Russia as well as their preferred food and drinks.
The event was attended by close people, fun laughter and excitement was the order of the night especially after Russia scored extremely well.
