On Air Personality
A very intellectual and ambitious person. A person who loves peace caring for my family. I keep my thinking factual and real. Bayakutjhooooooooo!!!
Piet Vusi Shabangu, a.k.a Vum Vuum was born on the 08 February 1973; in Dennilton and grew up at Thabana, formerly known as KwaNdebele Home land, raised by a single mother. My ambitious started when I was still in Primary School known as Thabana High Primary School. I was inspired by broadcasting legends such as the late Cansas City Mchunu (Radio Zulu) and Micky Malatsi of Radio Ndebele. I completed my matric at Siyathokoza High School at Thabana in 1991 and studied Public Relations with Boston College in 1994.
In 1996 I joined Kangala Community Radio Station as a Presenter, promoted to be Program Manager in 2000 and further promoted to be a station manager in 2003. I am also a co founder of the Broadcasting chool known as KTRPP; they have produced some of radio and television personalities. In the year 2006 I was employed by Ikwekwezi FM (SABC) as a presenter of Morning Drive Show. In 2009 I was given afternoon drive show to present. In the Afternoon Drive Show I was hosting features like Traffic Updates, Economic News, Top Stories and Research. I also have features like Bathini abantu (What people are saying) that deals with topical issues on Mondays and Tuesdays. And again I also have a well-known feature called Tjel’ uVusi (Tell Vusi) that deals with problem solving issue, artists interviews and gig guides. Recently, there has been a newly coined feature called Siyazikhakhazisa NgeLimi lethu (We are proud about our Language) which deals with Poets, comedians and Rapping Artist but specific with IsiNdebele. During Saturdays I present the program called Saga wena (Get down) between 21h00 to 00h00.
Presently Vusi am an Ambassador of KTRPP Broadcasting School and specializes with Master of Ceremonies Works in different Social events. I also volunteers in his community as a member of CPF (Community Policing Forum).
