On Air Personality
Meet Jabu Mahlangu, a firm believer in faith, an individual who strives to bring happiness, love, peace, and positivity to every corner of life.
Jabu was born in Belfast in the early ‘70s and raised at 5 Morgan in Dennilton. In 1981, his family relocated to Soshanguve, where he embarked on his educational journey at Thulasizwe Primary School under the guidance of Principal Mrs. Nkosi.
During his teenage years in the early '90s, the world of radio captured his imagination. It was at school where he took his first steps into the broadcasting world when he joined the Talentlab Casting agency. As fate would have it, Soshanguve received its own community radio station during that period, where he eagerly joined as a news reader and motivator at this newborn radio station, eventually hosting an afternoon drive show in isiNdebele.
Influences and Inspirations:
In 1995, Jabu joined Radio Ndebele as a radio drama actor and scriptwriter, and though scriptwriting wasn't his forte, he continued with radio drama acting, leading to auditions for various programs in 1996.
Jabu’s journey has been marked by various shows, from afternoon drive to midnight shows. Presently, you will find him on the airwave between 12h00 and 15h00 hosting the Saturday and Sunday midday shows Tjhida Ngitjhudule and Ngezikhamba Nomoya respectively
Life Beyond Radio:
Outside of radio, Jabu is a passionate jazz lover and a motivator. During his spare time, you'll find him socializing with jazz enthusiasts and artists at jazz sessions and events.
Inspiration and Motivation:
Jabu draws inspiration from the belief that 'time waits for no man,' reminding us not to waste time but to act promptly and seize the moments that come our way.
