SABC Mpumalanga Combo’s Ikwekwezi FM and Ligwalagwala FM have joined forces with Betway Premiership’s TS Galaxy FCThis mutually beneficial two-year agreement marks a significant collaboration between the province’s two leading radio stations and Mpumalanga’s only PSL team. With this partnership, SABC Mpumalanga Combo and TS Galaxy FC have set the stage for an exciting and dynamic relationship that will bring football closer to the fans while strengthening the connection between sport and media.
The official launch event, held on 31 January 2025 at the SABC M1 studio, was a prestigious occasion that brought together key stakeholders and served as a platform for networking to solidify the collaboration and lay the foundation for similar partnerships. The event was broadcast live through a simulcast on Ikwekwezi FM and Ligwalagwala FM, ensuring that listeners are afforded an opportunity to be a part of this significant event both on-air and through digital platforms.
Business Manager: Mpumalanga Combo, Nkosinathi Ntuli, highlighted the meaningful benefits this partnership will bring to listeners. He stated that this is “beyond just game broadcasts, the partnership will provide exclusive insights, interviews, and behind-the-scenes access to TS Galaxy FC offering fans a deeper connection with their team.”
TS Galaxy Chairman, Mr Tim Sukazi, encouraged listeners to stay tuned to Ikwekwezi FM and Ligwalagwala FM for exclusive updates and opportunities. He emphasised that the partnership is centred around fans to ensure that they are more involved and always engage with their favourite team. TS Galaxy will have dedicated on-air slots across both radio stations, ensuring extensive coverage and engagement with the club’s supporters. Moreover, the collaboration extends beyond broadcasting, encompassing marketing initiatives, merchandise sales, ticket giveaways, joint branding efforts, and community outreach programs tailored to benefit Mpumalanga listeners.
Concluding the event on a high note, SABC General Manager for PBS Radio, Mr Siphelele Sixaso, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “anyone that is seen to have power is connected to a power source.
